I want my imagery to give people a way to express themselves, to offer them a moment of magic and wonder, I desire to ignite their imagination, emotions and give them a sense of connection. — Jaeda
At the inception of this incarnation of the magazine, we gave the following questions to Jaeda (who was then one of the featured artists on our daily changing Cloud Z Cover).
E-Interview by: WINNIE LUK
1...Think of a pivotal point or experience in life where your worldview or circumstances changed dramatically.
…..What advice would you offer your younger self?
…..Alternatively, what piece of art would you create to show your younger self?
2...Think of where art is heading in the future.
…..What movement is going on; and what are its characteristics?
…..What kind of art would your future self create?
We so appreciate the honest response from JAEDA DEWALT and hope that it touches you as she has touched us.
My art takes root in internal landscapes. I am introspective by nature. Pivotal for me, was that moment in childhood when i realized i was being abused… that what was happening to me, wasn’t right, healthy or normal. The shift occurred gradually, over a long period of time. As a young adult, i still had no voice and used self-destructive coping mechanisms like; cutting, starving myself and purging. Eventually i started writing out my feelings and my pain, in the form of journaling and poetry. And not too long after that, i began experimenting with self-portraits.
